Hi, I’m Dr. Jessenia Winstanley. I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in the treatment of OCD and anxiety. I have extensive training and experience in science-based approaches because I am committed to providing evidence-basedtreatment that has been tested through rigorous scientific studies and shown to work!
I am passionate about helping people improve their quality of life. I provide therapy for those experiencing stress, excessive worry, and debilitating anxiety. I can work with you to identify what is getting in the way of living the life you want.
My goal is to help you stop dwelling on negative thoughts and start helping you get back to living life. What makes me different is that I listen carefully and help you understand the problems and patterns that keep you stuck. While we may not always be able to control situations that lead to stress, I can show you how we can control our reactions to these stressful circumstances by understanding the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I can equip you with the right tools and confidence to create a more meaningful life.
Dr. Winstanley specializes in evidence-based treatments for OCD, anxiety, and anxiety-related conditions. She relies on evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and incorporates mindfulness into the sessions.
After completing her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia with a psychology major, Dr. Winstanley pursued Master’s and Doctorate degrees in clinical psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology. Her doctoral research focused on thought-action fusion and its implication on religiosity and OCD.
Dr. Winstanley has advanced training in CBT, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and Exposure Therapy for Anxiety Disorders. She also has expertise in CBT for insomnia (CBT-I). She is fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in Portuguese. She works with teenagers and adults.
